LAST CHANCE! A final walk through of Newberry School is scheduled for Saturday, September 11 from 10am to 2pm. The public is welcome. Masks are required. This is your opportunity to revisit it before it is torn down this fall to make way for the exciting new construction for the 370,000 sf building that will house grades 6-12, host a magnificent performing arts center and sports stadium.

Let's Hear It For The Band

Congratulations to our own “Tiger Band” as they enter their 100th season this year! Below is a great article about the band which appeared in the August 6th Akron Beacon Journal. Shout out to “Class of 72” grad John Walk who created the now famous cadence which instills so much pride each time the band takes the field!

These female athletes were recognized at the August 2021 Board of Education meeting for their accomplishments in track and field at the state meet this past year. Read more about them below.

  • Grace Lowe – Grace is a 4-year letter winner in track and field, and is the fastest female in the history of Cuyahoga Falls. She owns 4 school records in the 100 meters (12.27), Long Jump (17’8”), 4x4, and 4x2. Grace, qualified for the State Track meet twice as a Sophomore, and Senior. She earned All-Ohio honors in the long jump placing 7th in Division I. Grace also lettered 2-years in volleyball and was a member of the DECA program. Grace will be entering the Cuyahoga Falls Athletic Hall of Fame because of her All-Ohio Honor.

  • Emma Brustoski - Emma, earned a school record 15 varsity letters. Emma earned 4 in basketball, 4 in track, 3 in Soccer, 3 in tennis, and 1 in football. Last year she earned a total of 5 varsity letters in one year, 3 in the fall season. Emma didn’t just letter she was all league in basketball, and soccer and district Champ in Track and Field. Emma holds 2 school records 4X2 and 4x4 in track, and has to have the single season record for steals in a basketball season. Emma was also a member of National Honors Society, and an outstanding student. She will be entering the Cuyahoga Falls Athletic Hall of Fame for earning 12 Varsity letters.

  • Jenai Blake – Jenai, earned 12 varsity letters. 4 in soccer, 3 in tennis, 4 in Track and Field, and 1 in bowling. Jenai had a devastating senior year. She tore her ACL 1 day before the first regular season soccer game, and then a gain 2 weeks into spring track. Jenai, amazed me with her commitment to the teams even know she knew she would not get to play. Jenai holds 3 school records in the 4X1, 4x2, 4x4. She was also a state qualifier as a sophomore. She will be entering the Cuyahoga Falls Athletic Hall of Fame for earning 12 letters.

Congratulations to the 58 2021 graduating seniors who were awarded $131,000 in scholarships from our Foundation & Alumni Association (CFSFAA). Thank you members and donors who made this possible.

What is the Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation & Alumni Association (CFSFAA)?

We are a non-profit (501(c)(3 ) organization with a mission to promote educational excellence in the Cuyahoga Falls School District. Through your generosity and desire to give back to your school district and its community, we award scholarships and teacher grants, and foster relationships with current students and alumni.

Led by a Board of Trustees made up of alumni, parents, and community members, the CFSFAA strives to support the students, staff and alumni of Cuyahoga Falls City Schools.

Founded in 1983 by Dr. Harold Wilson, Superintendent of the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, John W. Steinhauer, Assistant Superintendent, John David Jones, and Gary Marshall.

Initiatives made possible through Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation and Alumni Association (CFSCAA) Membership and donations include:

  • Student Scholarships - Awarded annually to graduating seniors and made possible through donor contributions to CFSFAA

  • Teacher Grants - Teacher grants are awarded annually to cover the costs or defray expenses for programs that enhance student learning in the classroom. Awards are given for innovative, creative & diverse activities.

  • Distinguished Alumni Awards - Awarded annually to recognize alumni for their significant achievements in their various fields of work and/or volunteerism

  • Top Tiger - To further support the ongoing efforts of the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, CFSFAA supports the Top Tiger Awards. Created by the Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education, these awards honor two outstanding students from each building per month at a School Board Meeting. The focus of the program is to recognize students from all grade levels who excel in citizenship, academics, and civic activities within their school and the community. The program allow the Board of Education to publicly acknowledge the positive accomplishments of our students.

  • Alumni Services - We host class websites; offer a class funds holding account; update the CFSFAA master list as we communicate with alumni; maintain a vibrant, ever changing CFSFAA website that includes a Members-Only site with Yearbooks, historical Cuyahoga Falls City & Schools information, Reunion ideas, reunion vendor lists, and more; advertise Reunions and Class Get-Togethers; assist in finding a classmate through a class representative page, social media and our office support; email newsy communications to members periodically during the year; promote an annual CFSFAA membership at various levels that encourage Pay It Forward opportunities that support student scholarships and teacher grants.

The Mission of CFSFAA is to promote educational excellence through student scholarships and teacher grants, and to serve as a vehicle for alumni connections.
