From Anthony Gomez, Alumni, and President of the Board of Education:

We are proud to announce the selection of Dr. Andrea Celico as the new superintendent, effective Aug. 1, 2022. The Board of Education began the thorough search and interview process in January to determine the best candidate.

Dr. Celico’s experience and background set her apart, along with her passion for student success, skillful and resilient leadership, and forward-thinking. She stood out not only to the Board of Education but also to all three of the groups that interviewed her, which included parents, staff and community members.

Dr. Celico has an extensive background in education, earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from John Carroll University and her master’s in educational administration from Cleveland State University. Additionally, she earned a doctorate in urban education from Cleveland State. She served as superintendent for Bedford City Schools from August 2015 to January 2022 and prior to that served as the assistant superintendent of educational services in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District.

Dr. Celico also spent 17 years as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent in the Euclid City School District. Before accepting her role as Cuyahoga Falls City School District superintendent, she was a consultant to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

I am confident Dr. Celico will be a strong leader for our school community and continue to foster an innovative educational experience and student success. Please look forward to additional updates as we finish this school year.

Welcome to the Black Tiger Family, Dr. Celico!

Most of us think of our Tiger mascot as the one they knew when they graduated. But how many tigers have we had? Here are a few from our history, as reported in class yearbooks over the years.

Congratulations to our own “Tiger Band” as they enter their 100th season this year! Below is a great article about the band which appeared in the August 6th Akron Beacon Journal. Shout out to “Class of 72” grad John Walk who created the now famous cadence which instills so much pride each time the band takes the field!

The Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation and Alumni Association was honored to present a donation to The Cuyahoga Falls High School Marching Tiger Band to commemorate their 100th Anniversary. This presentation was made during their annual “One More Time” band concert, which caps off their marching band season. Nothing instills school pride like listening to this great band! Below are a few photos and a video from that wonderful concert.

What is the Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation & Alumni Association (CFSFAA)?

We are a non-profit (501(c)(3 ) organization with a mission to promote educational excellence in the Cuyahoga Falls School District. Through your generosity and desire to give back to your school district and its community, we award scholarships and teacher grants, and foster relationships with current students and alumni.

Led by a Board of Trustees made up of alumni, parents, and community members, the CFSFAA strives to support the students, staff and alumni of Cuyahoga Falls City Schools.

Founded in 1983 by Dr. Harold Wilson, Superintendent of the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, John W. Steinhauer, Assistant Superintendent, John David Jones, and Gary Marshall.

Initiatives made possible through Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation & Alumni Association (CFSFAA) Membership and donations include:

  • Student Scholarships - Awarded annually to graduating seniors and made possible through donor contributions to CFSFAA

  • Teacher Grants - Teacher grants are awarded annually to cover the costs or defray expenses for programs that enhance student learning in the classroom. Awards are given for innovative, creative & diverse activities.

  • Distinguished Alumni Awards - Awarded annually to recognize alumni for their significant achievements in their various fields of work and/or volunteerism

  • Top Tiger - To further support the ongoing efforts of the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, CFSFAA supports the Top Tiger Awards. Created by the Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education, these awards honor two outstanding students from each building per month at a School Board Meeting. The focus of the program is to recognize students from all grade levels who excel in citizenship, academics, and civic activities within their school and the community. The program allow the Board of Education to publicly acknowledge the positive accomplishments of our students.

  • Alumni Services - We host class websites; offer a class funds holding account; update the CFSFAA master list as we communicate with alumni; maintain a vibrant, ever changing CFSFAA website that includes a Members-Only site with Yearbooks, historical Cuyahoga Falls City & Schools information, Reunion ideas, reunion vendor lists, and more; advertise Reunions and Class Get-Togethers; assist in finding a classmate through a class representative page, social media and our office support; email newsy communications to members periodically during the year; promote an annual CFSFAA membership at various levels that encourage Pay It Forward opportunities that support student scholarships and teacher grants.
